Hi everyone,

Does anyone have experience with 1/1.9” 2Megapixel CMOS vs 1/2.8” 2Megapixel STARVIS™ CMOS
And then as a treat the 4K Dahua has a 12MP sensor, 1/1.7” 12Megapixel STARVIS™ CMOS.
Strange as 4K is less than 12MP.

I need excellent low light performance so I'm weary about the 2.8" sensor. I'm also weary about 4K as the pixel will be smaller and gather less light.

Looking forward to hearing some experiences!

I have a few of these PTZ's. I can tell you the 4K (8mp) has the best picture in the daylight ( not at full zoom ) and the SD6AE240V-HNI with the 2.8 sensors has the best overall image at night. The STARVIS is very impressive at night.

Hi jmcu, did you ever own a starlight with the 1/9" sensor? It seems that the top version, which I probably cannot afford,
SD10A248V-HNI uses one.

The
SD6AL245U-HNI-IR seems to have 2 lenses? Pretty noob at PTZ's but I get camera tech in general. Perhaps it has a separate day and night sensor?

I do have the SD10A248 and it is very expensive, but very nice. It is not for the average cctv user at this price point.
Here is the sample video I made. SD10A248V-HNI PTZ

As far as the 245U having 2 lenses, it does not. What you see is the laser window next to the lens window.

Very very impressive indeed. That goes for the price too:). I think the sweet spot for the prosumer is SD6AE240V-HNI. Well, at least for me. Contacted Andy too and I can just about afford it haha
I'm not the type to concede too much on tech. I want these things to perform admirably when needed. Which is hopefully never but people who have had uninvited guest can relate.
Thanks for the info!

Edit: oh yeah, just noticed what is Hi-PoE is it 802.3bt Type 4 or something else?:-)

I think you will be very happy with the SD6AE240V-HNI. It has a excellent picture and great IR for night viewing.
I didn't think the Hi POE was standardized as of yet, but I see they are calling type 4 - 62 watts +
I am using AC to power my large PTZ's.

Has anyone tried an 802.3bt injector with the 240 camera? Dahua's spec sheet just says Hi-PoE, which to my knowledge is just some proprietary meaningless term. It would be nice to have confirmation that a bt injector will work.

@jmcu how would you compare the noise the SD10A makes compared to the SD59? Did you happen to take a video with sound of it moving around? Thanks!

All of the ultra PTZ cams are pretty loud when moving. The SD10A is the loudest of all I think.
I have some older PTZ's that are a lot quieter.

I can shoot a clip and post it tomorrow if I get some time.

Thanks @jmcu! I'm also wondering if the IR lights are visible like they are on the non laser versions where you can see the RED dots... I'm thinking it may not be noticeable unless the laser is pointed right at your face... maybe i'm wrong.

@Kells - Here is a quick sound clip of the SD10A248v, this is mounted about 20' up.
It is the loudest of my ultra PTZ's. Listen at the end, it sounds like it is playing music.
We got a foot of snow on Fri. so I haven't had much time to film the other cams..

@jmcu that is so awesome, and is EXACTLY what I needed to see to know that this would not work for situation. It's a shame because having something like that on the side of my house would be bad-ass, but its' going to be only 10' high, and right at a busy corner of where we entertain outside, and also supposed to be discreet, so it definitely won't work... I might have to go w/ a couple fixed cams... Great video!

I was looking at getting a nice Dahua PTZ camera but I had no idea they were so loud...
Won't be able to get one if they are that loud. Are there quiet ones?

The one in the video above is the loudest of all, it is a SD10 so it is very large.
They all make noise when moving but not that extreme.

Does the sd6 ptz have better night vision than sd10 with the 1.9 sensor?
