Hi guys,

I'm about to move to the Dahua world with a DAHUA IPC-HDW5442TP-ZE-2712-S3

Having said that, I'll probably sell the Hik camera (a 4MP with a 1/3" sensor....yeah I know...) but ideally, I'd like to keep the Hikvision NVR. I forgot to say that I also have an Ajax security platform, in which I've added a while back a 8MP / 4mm turret camera (which I'm happy with) and also an Ajax NVR which has a fantastic GUI and the iphone app is a joy to use.

The main question is: do I need to change for a Dahua NVR ? Will I miss any features without a Dahua NVR such as notifications ? Is like like driving a car with Dunlop front tires and Michelin rear tires ? ;)

Thanks for you help guys.

Hi @hemdale

Ideally you should match the Camera OEM = NVR OEM as well as the NVR supporting the appropriate tier levels

Many members who have gone with mixed ONVIF compliant IP cameras go with Blue Iris as that makes mix and match a bit easier.

If you are using an Hikvision NVR and Dahua OEM cameras, you need to set them to "talk" ONVIF on that channel on the NVR and the Camera

you may only get the basics from the Camera as the NVR may not be able to communicate the more complex AI / smart features

They always work best with matching manufacturers, but it’s really hard to say how much functionality you’ll lose.
Need to hear from someone who has done it recently with recent model cameras..

Personally I'd make the switch complete and do the Dahua NVR.

BI may be a better interim alternative and cheaper if you already have a computer to use with it
