DMSS and DMSSHD on Ipad on iphone notifications

IMHO the android app is next to perfect.

The iOS app seems to be a horribly flakey.

The current issue I'm facing is on Android when I view a notification from the messages section, it shows the 10 seconds prior to the event happening, then the event, then at the end it shows however long you selected as the pushed video delay in settings.

On iOS it seems to skip that 10 seconds leading up to the event, and instead only starts playing the recording immediately when the event started.

Anyone else having this issue?
Which app are you talking about, GDMS or IDMSS plus? Just wondering...

Sorry, the new app, DMSS. I don't use gdmss or idmss anymore as they aren't actively supported I don't think.
Yeah true, but idmss plus seems to work best for me.. except that i can't get notifications to work....

Notifications do work on DMSS plus tho...
Did you add your camera in DMSS with p2p? via ip/domain?

I wish playback worked.... but it doesn't on DMSS, and i can't figure out why.... it seems to work if i add the device via ip/domain, but not via p2p.

So i did some extensive testing that might be interesting.

This is all done in DMSS to prevent confusion!

Adding a camera by local ip/domain name makes it so every feature seems to work, my live feedback, playback and even notifications are working.

But... the problem i have with this is, i will have to portforward some ports to be able to connect to my camera from outside my local network.
I'm personally not a fan of this, i rather setup my own OpenVPN or something.

Why does adding a camera with p2p cause for so much trouble? Every feature used to work fine on the discontinued app 'gdmss plus' on my android phone.

Now i'm using the DMSS (official) app, using p2p should work fine right? What am i missing here? Am i supposed to go through extensive network packet troubleshooting? How do i even know which ports Dahua uses for p2p?
When using p2p i can't get my playback to work correctly, somewhere something is being blocked, or it might not even be on my end.

DMSS notifications on iOS stopped on December 5th PM for me, not updated anything. The only thing I did see in the logs on my NVR was ‘saved <p2p> config’ on that day in the evening but this could be unrelated.

what was that?

No issues with any lack of notifications on Android 11 on Redmi Note 8 Pro via current DMSS version 1.96.002. I don't use insecure P2P, just Open VPN to connect to local LAN DVR/NVR IP address.

I did try connecting the NVR to DMSS using local IP but this still didn’t fix my notifications. Very frustrating.

Yeah i also just set up an openvpn for this purpose... should have done it from the beginning.

You will have some of your answers if you use Wireshark networking tool.
Need to see what port is being used from your NVR. See if your firewall is blocking that port. See if any ACK sent from the destination IP, etc.

This is the way.

I did try this but I couldn’t pick up any packets coming from my NVR’s IP. Maybe I need another go. Are there any guides to follow when trying this? I’ve not got enough knowledge about networks really.

Wireshark is a massively great tool with a steep learning curve. All the help I can toss in your direction is general youtube 'how to use wireshark' vids.
But it will give you answers, in the end of things.

I was testing DMSS push on iPad on latest OS yesterday. I was getting all notifications. This was using P2P connectivity

So push notifications are working on IoS again? If you don't click/open the psuh notifications (say you have 12 of them and just dismiss them) are the clips going to the messages area of the application (if you don't actively have the app open when they come in)

you have to open them from the notification center to be able to see them
