Does camera only use internet data when viewing the footage?

I have 1 4MP hikvision camera connected to a router. I have 10gigs of “internet data” for usage on this router. Camera is recording to onboard SD card, but since it is connected to the internet will it still be using up my 10 gigs of data? Or will data only be pushed when I remotely view footage.

Thank

It should not use internet data unless you are viewing.

Some cameras do stream 24/7 to a remote server, but I do not believe Hikvision does this.

Cool, I’ll get it online and see how much data it draws.

Do you know if Axis push to a remote server 24/7 or at all? (Obviously unless I remote view the stream) Even if it is recording locally?

Thanks

I wouldn't expect Axis cameras to do that.

Mostly it is the wifi cloud cameras that you need to watch out for. Nest, Ring, etc.
