Does the Window have to be open to record video?

It seems (and i'm hoping to be proved wrong here) that if i don't leave the Blue Iris Admin window open, then i dont get video recordings..

All i get is JPG files..

By open, i mean minimised to the task tray..

When i close the app, there is still a process running in the background

"Blue Iris Video Security and WebCam Software"

which i assumed would run quite happily recording alerts.. but it appears not.

is this normal or am i interpreting my problem incorrectly?

Running as a service will allow bi to operate the same way as it was open...you have something set wrong
