I have two Hikvision cameras DS-2CD2042WD-I
Both cameras are inoperative.
When connected to a switch or computer, the link does not go up.


I tested the wiring until the board is whole.
I supply power with a separate 12 volt unit.
Resetting to factory settings does not help.
On the board where the power comes and the network is constantly lit red LED.

Because of what it happened is unknown, I got such cameras ...

Tell me, this may be due to firmware? Or is it hardware problems?

Probably not.

Probably yes.
often a corroded RJ45 connector on the camera ethernet cable.
But you have tested the connections straight to the connector inside the camera?
Have you examined the camera RJ45 connector with a magnifying glass to check for any discolouration or signs of corrosion?

Yes, I checked. Everything is clean, the wiring is working. I took apart the camera and checked the diode tester.

There would be some clues if you connect up to the serial console on the cameras, if you want to spend more time exploring the problem.

I did not have a USB-UART converter with a level of 3.3v ...
I tried using Arduino as converter but apparently due to the fact that there levels 5v did not work ... Nothing is visible ...

Tomorrow I will try to find a normal converter and connect ...

I tried on a normal USV-RS232 converter - silence. Apparently the camera completely died ...

Actual RS-232 (ie +-12v signal levels)? Or serial TTL - 3.3v signal levels.
Did you try the convertor RX wire on both of the centre pins of the 4-pin serial console connector?
