DS-2CD2112-I password reset

I've bought a second hand DS-2CD2112-I but the problem is that the seller doesn't know the password anymore.
I've tried the "Hikvision Reset Tool" but this doesn't seem to work. There is also no physical reset button.

According the SADP tool:

• Serial is DS-2CD2112-I0120130408CCRR419639789
• Date 2004-01-12 20:09:51
• Software version V4.0.9 Build 130106
• DSP version V4.0 Build 12128

Is there some way I can do a factory reset or a way to get the security code?

That firmware version is old enough that I don't have any info on it as to which if any any of the reset methods would work.
But as a long shot it would be worth trying the method shown in post #2 at the link that @TonyR shared above.

If not, use the tftp updater to apply the R0 5.3.0 version of firmware

But there is a caveat there :
"If your camera firmware is older than 5.1 you will need to update in steps. Start with 5.1, then go to 5.2, then 5.3, etc."

Thanks, are you sure the link goes to the right firmware? As it shows "R0 series DS-2CD2x32x-Ixx"?
Or is this a better firmware? But if I need to start with 5.1 first, where can I find that one?

Using this link I was able to update the firmware in steps to a higher version. At some point after the update the device became inactive and was I able to set a new password. I'm now on V5.4.800 build 210813 and the password I set still works so problem solved.
