its has no mic...just audio in/out

there seems to be a glut of things that folks do/make/use to get mic/audio working - connecting to the green cable ends on the machine. It does seem odd (well i haven't found it) that there is no one unit with mic/speaker combo that could be put next to it or nearby which would be useful. Seems to be a DIY type area - unless someone here has spotted something like what i describe ...

Cool, I didn't know there was already a 2CD2120 with audio+alarms!

When using POE, we usually use a POE splitter that will output 12V from the POE (leaving the UTP cable without POE):
SECURAME : Splitter POE POE-SPLIT-25W [poe-split-25w] - 10.74€
Then a microphone like the following:
http://www.securame.com/microfono-kj601b-6v12v-p-712.html
From the 12V output on the POE splitter we connect the microphone, and it has a power output, which we use to power the camera.
We connect the mic to the camera with a connector like this one, and a short wire:
http://www.securame.com/conector-rca-con-salida-de-dos-terminales-p-1505.html
