DS-2CD2142FWD-I latest firmware giving weird results

So I had to upgrade my DS-2CD2142FWD-I to the latest firmware v5.5.82 build 190220 and now when I try to access the cameras settings in IVMS4200 client it gives me 'Basic' or 'Advanced' options and then only provides me with access to the Storage settings. It briefly flashes up the proper full camera settings page but then reverts to the storage settings only. Additionally, accessing the cameras web interface on Chrome or MS Edge fails and I can only access it using the legacy MS Explorer browser which of course is being retired in the middle of this year. If I try to access the camera using SADP it just times out. Yet the camera is behaving normally from a live view perspective.

Can anyone help advise what has happened and how I can rectify this?

Thanks

If I try to access the camera using SADP it just times out.
Could you clarify what you mean by this?
SADP is very good at finding Hikvision devices, whatever network segment they exist on.
Do you mean - SADP finds the camera OK, but when I click on the IP address, the default browser can't find it?
If so - it may suggest a mismatch between the PC IP address segment, and the segment that the camera is on.
What are their respective addresses?
Could the camera have the same IP address as another device on the LAN?

Yet the camera is behaving normally from a live view perspective.
As accessed by what?

Additionally, accessing the cameras web interface on Chrome or MS Edge fails
Fails in what way?
No login screen, unable to login, etc

Are you able to test on another PC?

Yes SADP finds the device OK, as does IVMS4200. The live stream works fine on Hik-Connect and also on my Synology Surveillance station NVR.

However, when I click on the cog icon in IVMS4200 to access the remote configuration of the camera, it gives me to sub-options (see the screenshot below) for either Basic or Advanced settings. When I click on either of these it just shows me the remote configuration for the Storage section of the camera, and none of the other settings.

When I try to open the web client using the address, it just gives me the other error message which I have also included below in a screenshot.

If I go back to using the old Internet Explorer web client, it lets me access the full remote configuration settings and from there I can revert the firmware back to the previous version I was using, which is v5.5.53 build 180730.

There is no IP conflict on the network. Both my PC and the camera are on the same subnet.
IP address of my PC is 192.168.0.7
IP address of my router/gateway is 192.168.0.1
IP address of the camera is 192.168.0.194

I have had to upgrade the firmware since I cannot get the camera to connect to Hik-Connect on the previous firmware version (v5.5.53 build 180730) and the version I am trying to upgrade to (v5.5.82 build 190220) seems to be the latest availble.

Does this make sense?

What do you think is the issue here?

Some further information on this and another screenshot of the NAT section of the network configuration page for the camera.

Now IVMS4200 is saying the camera is offline, which it is not.

I can still access the cameras remote configuration via the legacy Internet Explorer (but not MS Edge or Chrome).

See the network page for the NAT settings which looks odd - I dont know what this means though.

The camera still behaves normally and able to be added to Hik-Connect and the live view works just fine in the iOS Hik_connect app as well as my Synology Surveillance Station NVR.

I tried this - and get similar results as you have described, except that 'basic' is working normally on the newer firmware.
I tested with iVMS4200 3.3.1.8 on Win7 and on Win10, and also the updated version 3.7.0.5
I accessed cameras with firmware 5.4.x and 5.5.x and 5.6.x

The behaviour seems to be 'as designed', and varies with the firmware version of the target camera.
For camera firmware version 5.4.x the usual full configuration can be used within iVMS4200 itself.
For camera firmware versions 5.5.x or higher - 'advanced' provides the Storage configuration, and 'basic' pops up an IE11 window that requires the webcomponents plugin, and gives access to the full configuration.
It's quite misleading though that 'advanced' pre-populates all the possible configuration settings, then after accessing the camera reverts to the storage settings.

I can still access the cameras remote configuration via the legacy Internet Explorer (but not MS Edge or Chrome).
Yes, that 'browser check' was probably intended to be helpful - some configuration settings need the 'webcomponents' plugin capability - but is unwelcome.

It seems that your iVMS4200 isn't able to pop up the IE11 window for the 'basic' configuration, for some reason.
I'm wondering if it's somehow linked to the custom port settings that you are using.
As a test - maybe revert them all to the original defaults.

On the NAT settings - on the basis that you are using 'port forwarding' for remote access (which you must know is a seriously risky arrangement, considering the serious security vulnerabilities of these cameras) the screenshot looks normal enough, given the customised port settings.

Hi Alastair, thanks for your continued input.

I have reverted the camera back to v5.5.53 build 180730 and everything is back to working normally again, except that Hik-Connect is now OFFLINE and will not connect. I can access the camera's remote configuration via IVMS4200, or a Chrome web session, or an MS Edge web session.

Interestingly, if you look at the screenshot I have included below, the NAT section of the Network Configuration settings, using this older firmware, shows everything is 'Valid', which was all showing 'Not Valid' using the latest firmware. Do you think this is significant?

With the latest firmware installed, as you suggested, I did try setting all the ports back to the default values and it made no difference. Adding the camera to IVMS4200 just resulted in a Timeout and the camera being added in Offline state despite Live View still being accessible from my NVR and Hik-Connect services, and of course web login and remote configuration still only possible with a legacy Internet Explorer client..

It is tempting to think there is something significant with the WebComponents add-in but then this would not explain why the camera does not Add properly into IVMS4200, or would it?. I read something somewhere about the introduction of Winsocket instead of WebComponents in the 5.5.82 firmware but I've no idea what that means.

So I am still in the same stuck situation with this camera.

The camera will not connect to Hik-Connect with firmware v5.5.53 b180730 but connects immediately with the latest firmware.
However, the latest firmware the camera times out (and shows status Offline) when adding to IVMS4200 client, and will only provide web access for remote configuration using a legacy Internet Explorer client which is due to me retired by Microsoft in May 2022.

Do you have any other ideas on what I can try?

Incidentally, I have 5 other cameras on exactly the same network and they are all working perfectly with their latest R0 firmware managed in exactly the same way as this camera. They are models DS-2CD2132-I and DS-2CD2332-I.

Explorer is not shutting down. It was made in edge that u can always open any URL with Legacy IE. But they made it fully complicated. It is located in Edge settings. And i believe they will let this be.

Websockets are being put in new cams so plugin is not required for live view and playback.
