For some reason, my new 2342 refuses to sub stream at its highest available resolution of 640x320. I can neither get an image in 'Live View' via the web interface if I choose the substream, nor in iWMS-4500 or EZVIZ on the iPhone (error code 8200).

The problem goes away if I reduce the resolution to 352x288 but this is highly undesirable.

The rest of the settings are:

+ Bitrate type: Variable
+ Video Quality: Medium
+ Frame rate: 20 fps
+ Max bitrate: 1024 Kbps
+ Encoding: H.264
+ Profile: Main Profile
+ I Frame Interval: 20
+ SVC: OFF
+ Smoothing: 50

I have tried constant bitrate, doesn't work. I have tried reduicng video quality, frame rate and max bitrate all at once to see if 640x320 would work but to no avail.

Firmware is V5.3.6 build 151105.

Any ideas?

OK there seems to be a bug in the firmware in that the following settings combination is illegal:

(a) Capture Mode 2688x1520@20fps (under both NTSC and PAL);
(b) Main Stream 2688x1520; and
(c) Sub Stream 640x320.

This is based on the following observations:

(1) Sub stream 640x320@20 fps does not work when (a) Video Standard is set to PAL and (b) Capture Mode is set to 2688x1520@20fps. It goes away if Capture Mode is set to 2560x1440@25fps but then Main Stream is limited in resolution to 1920x1080@25fps.

(2) Sub stream 640x320@15fps does not work when (a) Video Standard is set to NTSC and (b) Capture Mode is set to 2688x1520@20fps. It goes away if Capture Mode is set to 2560x1440@30fps but then main Stream is limited in resolution to 1920x1080@30fps.

(3) If (a) Capture Mode is set to 2688x1520 and (b) Main Stream to 2688x1520 and (c) Sub Stream to 352x240, while the Sub Stream is monitored in 'Live View' (different IE tab or window) or iVMS-4500, then switching Sub Stream to 640x320 switches the sub stream accordingly to 640x320 but only until such stream is interrupted and cannot be restarted. This should indicate that this is not a CPU, RAM or other technical power limitation with the hardware itself but a firmware issue that does not make the highest settings stick (functionality wise).

Hopefully this will be fixed in the next firmware release.

don't use capture mode, and you should be fine.
all it does is confuse things, as far as i can tell.
