Hoping someone can help

I have a DS-2CD2T42WD-I5 Camera that I lost the password for.

I pulled the xml file and emailed Hikvision but hadn’t heard anything back for a while so looking at various threads I saw about flashing the firmware, I downloaded what I believe to be the latest firmware and used th Tftp tool to upload this, it goes through the motions but doesn’t ever show up as complete so I’ve possibly bricked this now.

Has anyone tried updating this camera.

The Current software version was V5.4.5 build 170124 and this is what I believe to have put on

What exact firmware did you try? A link would be good to check. It needs to be for the R6 series, for example from here : DOWNLOAD PORTAL

More likely to have just rejected the update attempt.
What does SADP or the web GUI now show?

Why are you using the tftp updater - have you lost access to the login details via the web GUI?
What does the tftp updater window say when you power the camera on?

What version of firmware does SADP show for the cameras?

How are the camera and PC connected up?
The Hikvision tftp updater works best when the camera is powered by 12v, not PoE, and when both PC and camera are wired to switch / router ports. Not WiFi.
And you may have to temporarily disable the Windows firewall if it's not allowing inbound access to tftpserve.exe

No the cameras came off ebay as i stated and they state activated the guy who sold them said the people who originally installed them do not remember the password.
