As promised, here is the oil report from Beryl on my Generac RG027-QS (27kw (25kw on NG) Standby Generator with a 2.4L Mitsubishi 4G64 running at 1800RPM. Generator is liquid cooled)
It was 24 hours for the Houston Derecho and then 138 hours for Hurricane Beryl on this oil, making 162. Total hours was 208 hours at the time. I did run for another 24 hours after changing the oil for Beryl
Have seen several of his videos. That guy is reasonable, but does some stuff that should NOT be done. Tipping the mower to the 'wrong' side... the gas is a minor problem. The larger problem is oil making its way through the crankcase vent tube and flooding the carb with oil... usually destroying it.
If I were going to lube the bushings... it would be during an oil change when the crankcase was mostly empty already.
I've seen it more than once... tipped to the wrong side. Carbs were replaced and not torn down... so don't know for sure. Neighbor used to work (commercially) fixing mowers at his house on the side. Sharp guy... was aerospace tech but fixed small engines in spare time. Very meticulous, but SLOW as heck.
That said... tipping the hondas to the wrong side... can for sure have oil backflow through vent tube into carb. Makes a heck of a mess.
Something else is wrong in that case, oil won't destroy a carb, if it did, then products like Sta-Bil (Just oil really) and 2 Stroke Oil would be killing engines left right and center. I often tip my Honda the wrong way to clean something or what have you, I just run it, its a bit smokey for a few moments, but no problems
If anything, bit of oil in a carb before storage would HELP the carb
And it could be price vs time. If just swapping it out is overall quicker and cheaper then you do that. its Not just mech time, but time out9f production, owner frustrated over time needed, etc.

If I had to say how this was even remotely possible... perhaps the oil entered the float chamber and caused rubber in this area to swell. I mean engine oil does have an additive to cause rubber to swell. There is a float valve seat and/or the tip that's usually rubber. Other than contaminants plugging the jet holes... that about only thing I can think of.
On small engines w/ no filter I've seen 'glitter' and 'flakes'...
Mind you, these were engines that sat w/ oil in carb long enough for mower to be taken to shop and my neighbor to work on them. If you opened it all up, washed it out quickly, etc... you might have very different outcome.
Starlink in our area is usually $499, but is on sale for $299 until October 5th. I already have AT&T Fiber and Verizon 5G as a backup, but I went ahead and ordered a dish anyway
Very excited!
Even just standing behind my garage, I have very few obstructions. Once I put it on a pole 10-12ft up, and trim some trees, I'll be golden
