I am totally new at this so excuse my ignorance. I have Empiretech cameras plugged into a powered switch, which is then plugged into my computer. I can find and initialize the cameras using the Dahua config tool. I have changed my IP address to have the last digit be different from my cameras. I have changed the password to my cameras in the config tool. But no matter how I try, I can't get Blue Iris to notice my cameras when i try to add them. What am I doing wrong?

I have googled this and read previous threads here and watched YouTube videos but still can't get it to work. My computer has Windows 11.

(I'm not sure if it is relevant, but my computer has both an ethernet card and the ethernet jack that is part of the motherboard. I have switched which cable plugs into my router vs my switch, but it does not seem to matter in terms of getting Blue Iris to detect my cameras.)

Are the cameras on the same subnet as the BI machine? (subnet in this case=1st 9 digits of IP address). Config Tool will find the cameras on any subnet. BI will find them only on the windows machine subnet. (If you're using dual NIC on the BI machine, it's not as simple and I'm unable to help).

Ok so sounds like you are in the right area of what needs to be done but at a loss really with idea of what you are doing.. last digit changed to be different from your camears?

So lets say this..

My computer is 10.0.0.119, My normal IP cameras connected to my Switch/Router and or POE switches all have 10.0.0.xxx ip addresses.. So for my Computer that is connected to one of my Switches running Blue Iris, It is in the same range as my cameras so all my cameras are able to be seen..

So some cameras come setup stock with one of a few different Ip addresses.. Main ones are 192.168.1.108 and another 192.168.0.108 so if you happen to see the 192 and don't pay any mind to the rest of the IP address and only change the 108 to like 110 or 107 but lets say the ip address of your normal network is 192.168.0.xxx and the one for the camera started in 192.168.1.108 then you would want to change not only the last number but also change the second to the last to your 0 range

next need to make sure they are in same gateway and subnet mask as well.. What is your IP and your cameras IP and not sure I understand your computers having 2 different ethernet in and out?

What is the IP address of your BI computer?

What is the IP address of your camera?

You can list the private LAN IP addresses as it does not tell anyone anything - they are the same as everyone else. The IP address of your service provider for your WAN is what you don't provide...Everything on the inside past the modem is fine to put out. Everything on the inside, the local LAN will fall under these ranges and you are not telling anyone anything about how to hack your system because these ranges are reserved for the "home side" of the service so every home internally will be within this same range):

10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255

As other's have suggested it's probably a subnetting or IP address conflict issue.

Have you tried connecting the camera using a web browser? What about pinging it?

Thanks for everyone's input. The problem was the one of my network cards was set to the same IP address as the camera's default. After I changed it, Blue Iris was able to detect it.
