EmpireTech NVR8CH-8P-2AI - Setup Questions

Hmmm I dont honestly know....

Thanks ... but ... it's saying "webplugin.exe" ... which I presume is for a MS version of windows, only?

The plug-in only works for Internet Explorer.

Yeah we know but it is still available.

How to enable native Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and 11:
  1. Open Notepad:
  2. Copy then paste the single line of code below into Notepad:
  3. CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true
  4. Save as OpenIE.vbs
  5. Make sure the the file name ends in .vbs not .txt, If it ends in .txt you must rename to .vbs
  6. Create a shortcut to the above file and double-click it anytime you want native Internet Explorer
  7. Download any of the plug-in the NVR or camera asks for.

I'm trying to access the NVR GUI from my phone - it's no problem to access from Firefox on a computer.
Might I need to use something like AnyDesk - so that my phone browser functions as a terminal?

Do you have a computer in the house?

Or tried different web browsers on android?

Maybe dolphin or sideload PaleMoon

I'm, apparently, being unclear.

I have no problem at all on my two Linux laptops.

I have an Android phone from which I want to access the NVR.

From what I've read the provided NVR app may create some security flaws & I don't like apps in general.

I get that something like RustDesk is an app (on a phone) but it's FOSS approved and available via the F-Driod store (which I trust).

(It will also provide access to some other things on my home network - so, it's versatile.)

I've been researching all that, just now, and will give it a try and report back.

Thanks.

Oh ok that is different. I thought you were trying to set up the system via a mobile device.

What about a remote program to log in to one of your computers (provided it is on all the time)?

That's what I think RustDesk will do - it's like AnyDesk and NoMachine. It's supposed to work on pretty much any OS (I need Android and Linux compatability).

Our Empiretech nvr8ch-8p-2ai NVR continues to time-out, making it nearly useless.

Hardware Version: V1.0
System Version: V5.005.00000000.2.R
Build Date: 2024-08-30

I can't be constantly logging back in - especially remotely.

There must be a solution to this ... @EMPIRETECANDY

Timing out on the HDMI feed?

Thats very odd

It leaves the last moment of feeds displayed - so, if you don't notice that things aren't moving, or it's night vs day - you don't even know it's logged itself out and is no longer actively streaming the camera feeds.

Should I try UPDATE on the Device Info pop-up window - or is it already the most recent firmware?

I don't honestly know. May check with Andy on FW

Looks to be the latest

I assume you bought the NVR from @EMPIRETECANDY ?

Thats his site I linked to.

Whomever you bought from

I think that’s the latest

You could try resetting it to factory default , it can be done with a click in the web gui

It won’t touch any settings made on the cameras themselves

There are provisions to export them out, but then it could bring the problem back in by importing them back.

Best practice when factory resetting is to set it up from scratch to remove the possibility of bringing the issue back.

And many here are fans of 3 factory resets. Folks that can get "under the hood" has shown that sometimes one isn't enough for everything to clear and reset.

I did a search in the manual and no mention of a factory reset from the web gui. I also didn't find one after jumping around on the web gui. What am I not noticing, please?
