Via the camera web interface, I set the Sub Stream Encode Mode to H-264. I'm guessing a web browser will be unable to open this by itself using a http:// request so I opened it in VLC via the rtsp:/ request which worked fine.
However, if I try to access this sub-stream in a web browser or VLC using a HTTP request () then the camera's Sub Stream Encode Mode will be changed to MJPEG. This happens even if the "user" only has a "Live" and "Playback" permissions.
If I'm not mistaken this is an old bug in Dahua cameras but I am surprised this was never fixed. My camera otherwise doesn't seem to have any newer firmware.
Can anyone confirm or let me know if there is a fix for this?
