Entering either BI 4 or BI 5 license raises CPU utilization

They are being recorded to same drive as BI is installed to. I have always done it that way, should it be a separate drive?View attachment 51415

It's just that most people want a very high-capacity drive for the video to be stored on, so I was expecting if you have a SSD, you'd also have a high-capacity mechanical drive.

1. Does your system record full-time. or only when triggered? At first glance, I was expecting to see over 1000MP/sec incoming, but most of your cams appear to be idling.

2. Hit us with another Task Manager shot alongside your Blue Iris Status panel while it's maxed out at 100% CPU usage.

3. Is your network switch possibly a bottleneck? I can't tell from your Task Manager screenshot if your system's got a gigabit link to the switch.

Only when triggered, ocassionally continuous

at 100% impossible to open snipping tool to get that screenshot !

Router is gigabit/ 24 port switch is gigabit, downstream some cameras in far parts of house connected to 10/100 switch

Would recording clips/ motion/ video to separate SSD bring down CPU Usage?

Again, everything works perfect UNTIL Blue Iris License is entered and program is activated.

Thanks. The first thing I would do is dial down the framerate to 15fps on the cams that are shooting for 20fps or higher. While you're in there, also set them to one keyframe per second, since BI's documentation suggests there may be an optimal keyframe rate to help with CPU load.
 
Just a couple of follow up questions and observations please


When I reconfigure a formatted pc I install the program, import the saved setting then later on put in the license.

Everything works PERFECTLY until I install the product key.

I was thinking as a test too, starting fresh and adding each camera 1 by 1

Also. is there a batch find all my dahua camera mode instead on manually setting them up?

But again, BI works perfectly, flawlessly, pristinely, amazing well up until the Product key is put in and BI is activated then CPU rates near 100% which is puzzling to me.

On my supercomputer which never goes past 25% cpu utilization that cpu i9 7940 and the i7 7800 are not that far apart according to a cpu comparer program.

Even an older PC with a i7 5960x doesnt choke like the i7 7800 does.

Have to ask this : What browser are you viewing the dahua setup page in? If indeed that is your image.

What do most people use these days to open the dahua setup page?

Chrome will not
open it without a 3rd party extention and Int explorer is risky these days

I use Chrome on the Dahua setup page. I can't see the video, but the settings, savings, etc. all work. I can change parameters and see the impact on BI immediately.

But why, why did this work on a LICENSED BI INSTALL and was not needed on a non registered version


CPU utilization down from 100 percent to 20 percent, how is that possible??

The only difference is a less fluid more static image, does it resume when motion is caught?limit.JPG

Optimizing Blue Iris's CPU Usage contains some advice about that option. It could impact your motion detection. Also, test playback to be sure your system can perform when it counts.

I forgot to touch on one other setting that has a lot of influence when viewing your cameras: set the Scaling to "Fast" in Blue Iris's main Settings panel, Other tab, rather than Bilinear or Bicubic.

Already set to "fast" You are correct MOTION is delayed when limit decoding is checked

Will keep reading up and if I have to I'll downsize from max fps to half of that

Still, cannot grasp why only licensed edition poses problems while non licensed is PERFECT

You have some strangeness with some of your cameras bit rates, some are abnormally low. Others are showing zero frame rates and zero i frames....that's not correct.

Set all IFrames to the same as the cameras FPS.

Study these carefully.

If you haven't, you need to do a clean install of Windows 10 using the MS media creator tool.
Be sure you have all BI folders excluded from any installed antivirus.
You should not be recording to an SSD. Bi, the operating system and the BI database should be on the SSD.
Then all video should be recording to a WD purple hard drive.
The cameras should all connect to the POE switch, then the BI PC should also connect to one of the same switchs...not the router.
NO camera data should have to traverse through the router to get to the BI pc....ever.
All else fails, delete the cameras from BI, then set them back up fresh, or uninstall BI, do a fresh BI install, then setup the cams fresh, don't import the settings.
Study the help file that is included within BI.
