EU follies

Plenty thanks. We didn’t give ours up.

We were without power in a large part of Florida, population 23million, a number of times the past 10 years due to hurricanes.
Once for 8 days.
We used gasoline generators and got by fine. Our neighborhood had zero looting. We’re all very well armed and the bad guys know this. They make a lot of noise for TV in downtown areas with few actual citizens, but aren’t stupid enough to come to the neighborhoods.

Many of the BLM were paid agitators. Since cutting off their socialist funding through DOGE, we are seeing far less of that.

About those 3rd world immigrants…
I am making a guess.
A oneway jet trip across the country.
= ten years of car use.

Agree. Giving credit where it’s due.

He forgot one most important reason - in Polish (and 99% other countries) president election - the winner is the person who simply gets 50% + 1 votes in all country...

if not in the first round, then in the second, in which only the 2 candidates with the most votes advance.

No shady indirect system with counting votes per each state and representing candidate with absolute majority in each state by all electoral votes from this state.

If I remember correctly Hillary Clinton in 2016 had 3 milions more votes in the US but Trump won using this shady system..

We can send you all of our liberals and you may like our electoral college more ;)

It prevents 1-2 big liberal socialist populated states from determining the outcome. The country was purposely made up of states with a limited Federal govt.

Unfortunately it’s now backwards and fucked and the country is in final decline

Yes, I know the US history. And the fact that very specific president election system in the US is created by history.

But ignoring 3 milion more votes is not something we can call democracy.

Or telling that some states are worse or better (because they have more dems or reps) and we should count people votes from them in different way (with different importance).

Pure true Democracy is Mob rule.
It would only work where you have a majority of reasonable and educated citizens.

OK, exit polls from 2024 US president election, section education:

View attachment 222261

Educated people voted more for Kamala..
Are you trying to equate college degrees with intelligence? Really??

The electoral college prevents a small number of major urban areas from controlling the entire country forever. The diverse needs of different states would Never be recognized and laws that work great for cities would decimate rural areas. So NO. We will keep our current system, thank you.

One description of a democracy is 3 wolves and a lamb voting on who will be dinner tonight. The US constitution is structured to prevent smaller states from being bullied or taken over by larger states. Consider if the EU government was totally taken over by the most populous countries, then controlled everything in the lower population countries. The US constitution does not create a democracy even though the liberal politicians and press keep trying to say it does. This is one explanation:

By definition, a republic is a representative form of government that is ruled according to a charter, or constitution, and a democracy is a government that is ruled according to the will of the majority. Although these forms of government are often confused, they are quite different. The main difference between a republic and a democracy is the charter or constitution that limits power in a republic, often to protect the individual's rights against the desires of the majority.

Without more specificity I have to disagree with you on this one. The education aspect is more complex. Sure, the voters should know how the government really functions instead of it being the R and D teams playing in a sports contest. After basic education, it has more to do with respect and morality. A big part of human nature is greed, and when a critical mass of people see an opportunity to gain for themselves at the expense of others, they can use "democracy" to achieve it. I've concluded that there's actually an inverse relationship between reasonable and highly educated. Highly educated usually means highly indoctrinated and/or brainwashed, including the skills to manipulate those who aren't educated at all.

I use the term as you first describe it. Basic knowledge of how our government system was designed to work. Responsibility of citizens

I agree greed will win and “higher education” by itself doesn’t equal common sense.
