Hi,
This forum is a wealth of knowledge. We are looking to expand the IP camera system at our business and I wanted to sanity check our plan before spending the money.
Current set up:
- 8 Hikvision 3MP dome cameras (don’t recall model #), connected to Hikvision DS-7616NI-E2/16P NVR (8 of 16 ports used)
- We monitor cameras using iVMS software on-premises, and also via phone app
- Have an extra NVR as well (same model as above), currently unused
Proposed expansion:
- 8-12 additional cameras, all LTS platinum turret 4.1MP/2.8mm, for both indoor and outdoor use. (I’m still researching if we should be using a different focal length in some spots.)
- If only 8 more cameras, we would simply connect to existing NVR and use all 16 ports
- If >8, would use extra NVR as well
Some questions:
- Are these LTS cameras good bang for the buck? A couple of the outdoor ones will need decent low light capabilities.
- If we end up using both NVRs, is it easy to connect them together to view all cameras in one interface (either on-premises and in app)? If not we’ll probably just install 8 more cameras to keep everything on the same system.
- Is it better to use the web interface (using IE) instead of the ivms software for monitoring and event playback?
- What is the recommended app that would work best for the above set up? There are several Hikvision choices
- What is most efficient way to set up motion detection alerts on this entire system (ie, specify certain camera image sections and times of day where a motion alert is pushed out via email).
