Hi, currently i have my camera installed next to my window as the cable isn't very long but i have been wanting to move my camera higher up which requires an extension cable, my question is can the connectors be outside? i have been looking at junction boxes, do i need one? the seller says the cable is waterproof and can be outside but my concern is the two connectors?

The connectors can be outside. It is usually wise to make some effort to weatherproof the connectors however.

On my most exposed installs, I use 3 layers of protection:

1. Dielectric grease (can be applied even to RJ45 ethernet connectors, so a simple DC barrel connector like that would be fine)
2. Self-fusing silicone tape. The most trusted brand name is 'coax-seal' although it can be quite expensive.
3. Standard vinyl electrical tape as an outer layer.

Electrical tape by itself isn't really enough to keep water out, since it does not create a waterproof bond and over time it will probably become loose.
