Hi all,

Even thought ive had this camera hooked for some time, ive only now really understood why there was never any audio heard.

I cant find anything in the manuals to clarify how i would connect up an external MIC though.
Ive attached a photo of the connections available.

Q. Do i need to connect the the Mic to the yellow RCA and the power of the mic to the the Audio IN and GND?
Q. Does the Mic usually sit inside the dome housing or im meant to run cables outside?
Q. Would something like this work if i just cut the power connector off and wired to the terminal block? AA002 CCTV SECURITY AUDIO PICK UP ADD ON MICROPHONE FOR CAMERA

Thanks

Yes, connect the two wires from the mic to the IN and GND terminals.
You can cut off the connector or use something like this instead. click here
You will need to power the mic from an external 12vdc power source.
This mic works well with Dahua Cams. click here
You want the mic outside the camera. Inside, it wouldn't pick up much sound at all.
Be sure to turn off the Noise filter in the cameras setup pages for audio.

Thanks for your advice.

Can i just confirm that the camera itself doesnt supply any voltage from the green terminal block to the Mic? Instead i have to find an alterntaive power source?
Also i read somewhere else that the yellow RCA socket is not audio but is actually Analogue video so im even more confused now.

Sorry

The yellow RCA jack would only be used with a small tv monitor attached so that it can be seen where the camera is being pointed during installation.
Yes, you will need to provide separate 12vdc power to the mic. The camera does not provide power to the mic.

This is the only connections needed for audio IN and GND.
