Face detection list empty

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but functions under the AI Search menu do not work for me.
For example, under the Face Detection menu, I select channel: All, and All for every other combo box. The result list is empty. I did not install a SD card in the camera. Is a card in each camera required for AI functions (detection, IVS, etc)?

NVR model: NVR5208-8P-4KS2
Firmware: DH_NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.001.0000000.3.R.200519

Camera model: IPC-HDBW4231FP-AS

Under parameters have you enabled the Face Detection for the corresponding channel? As well as selecting Face Detection in the Smart Plan?

I have the same problem.(IPC-5442E-ze, NVR5216-16p-I) I have selected Face detection in Smart plan and enable this feature in parameters. Camera and NVR detect the faces and show in AI view mode, but when I want to search the faces for a special time ,AI search result is empty!!
could you please help me? actually I upgrade my NVR with 200707 firmware.
