First cam up HDBW4321FP-AS 2.8mm

Nice angle, height and view. These are cool little cams and perfect for the front door.

I need opinions on viewing angles....
I have the original lower pointing view, then thought I should get some activity across the street in case they skip my place...
SO I am providing Lower, and slightly elevated line of sight, one with light off and one with it on.
I am thinking to block the camera side of the fixture with aluminum foil down to the cross bar on the lamp glass.

Any thoughts appreciated. Will also place one more cam on other side of garage shooting over the blue car past the silver SUV.

I like the higher angle, which is similar to my plan for the same location. I'll aim it to just miss the neighbor's window facing the front of my house. But the sidewalk and cars parked across the street will still be in view.

+1 ^^ (for pix 2 & 3)

Any chance you can clear that carriage lamp? It seems to be blocking 20% of the viewable area.

I am trying to cover door checkers on the Silver SUV. Here is how the test mount is placed.
I can move it up some, or to the left.
But if I put it between lamp and garage door frame, I lose the angle on the car door.

Might try a little higher and more toward the edge of the house. Maybe 6” or 8”, to see if that changes the impact the light is having on the view? You are not going not get rid of it, so figure out the best mitigation. It’s almost like closing an eye, holding a thumb in front of the open eye about 3” away and looking out a window. Then, move the thumb away about 8-10” and see what happens to the view. Perhaps shifting the camera up and out will still give the angle you want and open the view slightly.

Ok been a minute since drafting class, but looks like the difference is in the mounting holes.

PFB203W the diameter of the hole patterns 84mm, 98mm and 110mm see: http://au.dahuasecurity.com/download/20150828axufgw.pdf
PFB204W the diameter of the hole patterns 69mm and 94mm see: http://uk.dahuasecurity.com/uk/download/20160325bytkzt.pdf

I would check with Andy to make sure you are getting the one that will fit your camera, because I couldn't find that model to search out a similar diagram.

Also I guess "blocking 20%..." was significant exaggeration, I'm just imagining if the door checker hits your neighbors car and then cuts through that area between property the whole time he will be blocked from view by the dang carriage lamp.

Hi Jim,

The PFB204W goes with the IPC-HDW42xxEM models, the PFB203W goes with the IPC-HDW52xxR-Z models

For the camera you have up in the photo you would need the PFB203W

Note - even with that mount it the camera will not fully clear the lamp. BTW - I have that mount and it is really nice w/ a lot of room to place the pigtail connections.

@mat200 how did you get from the thread title referring to: HDBW4321FP-AS to the fact he would need the same mount as the IPC-HDW52xxR-Z models? My Google-fu had failed me.

By looking at the cam he is testing.
You can go to the dahua site and use their accessory finder to pick correct mounts.

Hi CRW030, Looney2ns has pointed you to the exact document you want to look at.

Note, there's a link to it in the notes IPCamTalk WiKi | IP Cam Talk
iirc page 15

or #6 in my notes
Looking for some advice and direction!

I'm a rebel, I'd put it just to the right of the light looking from the street. I think you'll be sorry with the IR reflection from the light, and the view blocking.
Your goal is to ID a face. Even in B&W leaving the couch lamps on will assist with viewing.
Use the mount, and mount it with the top of the mount approx level with the bottom of the garage door trim.

Mine, I wanted to hit a motor joint.

You are a rebel! I want to move the light 18 inches left, and put the camera where the light is.
Major resistance coming from inside the house.
I ordered two PFB203W from @EMPIRETECANDY which should arrive sometime soon.
Only need a 1/4 inch hole to mount with those, so if I decide to move them, filling the hole is easy enough.
Easier than overcoming the WAF on moving the new light.

Or "vandals" (eh?) destroy the carriage light BEFORE that new cam goes up.."See, honey? This is EXACTLY why we need these new cameras".

Who am I kidding? It's more fun (and safer) for me to suggest how someone else manage issues with their wife than for me to attempt it with mine!

Hi Jim,

Feel free to share some night time test photos with regards to a couple of the different spots you're testing out. This should be useful for a lot of others to see the results.

Thanks, looking forward to hearing what you end up deciding.
