I forgot to unstall Blue Iris 4 as a Windows 10 Service though Windows 10. Now I am having issues with Blue Iris 5 running as a service. Any idea's how to go into the registry and uninstall BI4 as a service?
Since BI4 was still running as a service when you upgraded to BI5, I'm pretty sure this caused a conflict. Both BI4 and BI5 share the same settings location in the Windows registry. What is the best way to recover from this depends upon whether you have exported BI4 settings before installing BI5. This would have created a backup file called "Blue Iris.reg" in C:\Program Files\Blue Iris 4.
Step 1: Uninstall BI5
Open BI5, go to Settings -> Startup folder and uncheck "Run as a Windows Service" and exit BI5. This should stop the Service "BlueIris", but does not remove it from the lists of services in the Windows Services app.
Exit BI5 app.
Uninstall BI5 from the Control Panel, this will break BI4. You may need to reboot PC.
Step 2: Uninstall BI4
Copy "Blue Iris.reg" export settings file from C:\Program Files\Blue Iris 4 to your Desktop or some where safe.
Uninstall BI4 from the Control Panel
If "BlueIris" is still listed in the Windows Services App, then do the following:
a. Open an admin elevated CMD prompt
b. Remove the BlueIris service by typing:
SC STOP BlueIris (may not be necessary) SC DELETE BlueIris
Step 3: Delete Blue Iris Settings from Windows Registry
Open REGEDIT and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Perspective Software
Open Blue Iris 4 and turn off "Run as a Windows Service" feature temporarily. It is in Blue Iris Options > Startup.
Make a backup of BI4 settings. Export Settings in Options -> About
After installing BI5, make a backup by Export Settings.
Uninstall BI4 when you are sure BI5 is running correctly.
Some people have reported that uninstalling BI4 and answering NO to delete registry and registration still ends up deleting the registry settings, which reverts BI5 to demo mode. If this happens to you, re-import your BI5 export settings from C:\Program Files\Blue Iris 5\Blue Iris.reg.
