Ya think night vision or at least a flashlight would have helped?? How to ruin a week long camping trip in 3.....2.....1.......
Might have helped the porcupine to either get out the way or take a shot BEFORE he got stepped on....those are porky quills, right? That's gotta hurt.
But what's the flip-flop doing down there on the dark ground if he stepped on porky?

I brought that pic into a photo editor. Looks like he is sitting in a car, with his flipflop off. His foot must have rolled when he either stepped on the porky or he kicked it like a soccer ball with the side of his foot. Either way, that's gonna hurt.....for a while.
