I had my first lesson in Newton's First Law of Motion back in 6th grade on my bicycle, attempting to jump over a sand pit in a state park campground playground........not realizing that breakneck speed alone would not make me clear the sandpit without height, the front wheel of the bicycle came down in the loose, deep sand and the bike stopped instantly. Unfortunately, I didn't and neither did my feet when they flew off the pedals........until my in-motion boyhood was instantly stopped of motion by the gooseneck riser for the handlebars......Yes, he left an impression on the railing, the girls AND on "the boys"...if you get my drift...
I had a 3 speed. I managed to make a wheely and saw my front wheel go faster then I was - it had loosened from the front forks and was gone. I have a scar on my chin from the resulting “oh shit”.
I dealt with this for many years...
