Remember to check if your city has rebate programs for security cameras

I found the following rebate listed for a city .. nice, that it does not require it to be a cloud camera .. nor is there a access requirement.

( seen $50, $150, $200 rebates .. )

example :
"To be eligible for the $150 rebate, each security camera device, must meet the following requirements:
• Security camera device must individually be equipped with a camera
• Be a brand-new, in original packaging, non-refurbished, security camera device
Security camera device must have a total sale price, before taxes and installation, of $200 or
greater.

• Be installed on the front facing exterior of the home prior to rebate application submission.
Camera angle(s) must capture any of the following location(s):
 Residential front door
 Residential front driveway
 Residential front facing street or Residential front facing yard"

Wow. I never heard of such a thing. I can't imagine a city having the budget to pay people to install their own private security cameras. Is that $150 per $200+ camera? Good grief if so.

@bp2008 FYI my city water company provides rebates on Flume water monitor and some smart irrigation controls. I agree, security camera rebates are something I haven't heard of before

Don't live there but DC does:

They require registration with the police but there's no stated requirement to make any video available.

A few other local areas have done the same or had proposals to do it.

With a $20K budget and $100/cam, I'd take near 10% of their budget just for mine. lol
