There is absolutely, but the ability to run from a specific location (the mounted sd card in your example) requires the linux permission/ability to specify the path.
The locked down shell restricts ./ and / usage so no ability to specify the dd executable to run it.

not any that i can report, specifically on bypassing the ability to execute without specifying the path and the restrictive shell stopping the attempts

I read several threads, but I did not understand what the situation of the G0 cameras is.
I saw that in the latest versions of the Chinese firmware are no files for other languages in addition to Chinese.
So the solution would be uboot patch to be able to load custom firmware and add language files manually?
