That Seagate external drive would work fine, if you had a USB 3.0 or 3.1 port to plug it into. Looking closely at your Dell, that's not likely. I see IDE or floppy ribbon cable; I see a parallel port (!); and I see PCI (along with the PCI-express) slots. That machine is not likely to have USB 3.0 or newer. Still, check for a blue USB port. If you have one, just buy the external drive.
