Geofencing and schedule issue

Hey everyone. Im fairly new to Blue Iris and currently running the demo for 8 more days to make sure this will work like I want it to.

Im currently using the ios app to enforce geofencing. The geofencing is working great but I have a problem when it switching profiles.

I have just 2 profiles set up as seen here:

Image2.jpg

The Green is when Im away and geofencing automatically runs that profile so any motion trips the record feature and notifications. The Blue is when Im home and should only record from 1 am to 6:20 am while I sleep if it senses motion. Geofencing activates that profile just fine when I pull into my garage and activates away when I leave.

The issue is that even though its activated the "Home/Blue" profile, motion sensing is still activated and it records every movement I make throughout the house. This results in massive amounts of recordings everyday.

Shouldnt the "Home/Blue" profile only initiate recordings during the hours of 1 am and 6:20 am that I have selected as acceptable recording times?

The only way to stop recordings while Im home, and awake, is to set the "inactive" profile on a temp hold.

Is there something Im missing here? Appreciate any help anyone has to offer.

you need to go into every interior camera and in the record tab set the home profile to manual recording...calling a profile HOME does nothing...blue iris has no idea which cameras you dont want to record or what home means.

In the camera settings under the "Home" profile, there isnt and option for "Manual" recording that I see.

Shouldnt when it switches to the "Home" profile I created just follow that profiles schedule and only detect motion during active hours?

yes there is, you simply uncheck video...no recording occurs..
How is blue iris supposed to know that all the cameras should be inactive during the home profile? Also you dont want to set all cameras to manually record...just the indoor cams...you do want all your outdoor cameras recording.

I figured that if all cameras follow a global schedule then they would only record motion during that profiles scheduled times to record. When I dont run geofencing and just run the schedule permitted, the "Home" profile only records during the selected hours.

I will uncheck the video and see how things go real quick.

You are confused..I suggest you watch the profile videos here....there is no such thing as a profile that is globally scheduled to record...profiles are a bank of time...each camera can be set to perform different tasks and different settings can be applied during that profile...

Ok I watched the videos on profiles and scheduling with profiles and have set it as instructed.

So heres whats happening. If I turn off geofencing and let the global schedule run. The indoor cameras dont record unless its between 1 am and 6:20 am because the schedule for profile "home" isnt set to record any other times. Blue Iris shows the schedule as "inactive" which is perfect (Dont have outdoor cameras yet) during the hours I havent selected that profiles schedule to run.

When geofencing activates the "inside" setting it runs the "home" profile, the same one that is only scheduled to record during 1 am and 6:20 am. However, its recording motion triggers at all times now instead of only during the scheduled hours.

Turn off geofencing and everything records during the selected times again.

"because the schedule for profile "home" isnt set to record any other times. " what does this mean..there is no such setting...it is set in each camera for the specific profile...
post all your settings including your geofence settings.

Heres an image of the new schedule I set that shouldnt record until 7:15 pm. As you can see though, its recording at 5:52, 5:49 and 5:40. It should be active during that time but because I used geofencing its ignoring the schedule.

Above is the schedule, here is the geofence settings for inside and outside

go back and delete all schedules...you added schedules on top of the profiles and have not activated the schedules...no need in your application.

Ok but if I remove all schedules how would I get it to trigger motion recording between 1 am and 6:20am. Wouldnt I need a schedule for that "home" profile setup to activate recordings for during 1 am and 6:20?

I want "inside" geofencing to still allow recordings from 1 am to 6:20am but no other times.

I think I just figured out what you're talking about. Let me mess with this for a bit and we'll see if I can do what Im trying.

Sorry for the multiple posts but heres what appeared to work. I had to set a "Preset" titled home and set the 1st profile schedule to record during 1am and 6:20am only. Then set geofencing "inside" to active the preset, not a profile.

Then set a preset named "away" and have that set to record 24/7. Then set geofencing "outside" to activate the preset "away".

Im not sure that was the right way to do it or not but its working lol. Thank you for putting up with my confusion.

You don't need any independent schedules/presets all you need is multiple profiles... This over complication is just going to cause problems

Unfortunately, when I run it as a profile, geofencing ignores the profiles settings and records at all times. It doesnt do that when I disable geofencing and just let the profiles run.

no...it does not...it happens because you had incorrectly set multiple presets/schedules and and failed to tell geofence which one to use.
