Recently, using Gmail and some other emails re send/receive notifications from our device
encountered problem, this issue comes from Gmail at the beginning.
In the late of June, Gmail shut down their support for SSL protocol, while, most of our devices
and also some other manufactories’ DVR/NVR are using SSL as main encryption email protocol,
TLS was not supported. That’s why clients cannot receive emails from Gmail through our devices.
And, Gmail also does not support TLS v1.0. The same situation happens on Yahoo email and
some other emails too.
Those are the reasons why you encountered this issue now.
What we did, is to upgrade the firmware of our DVR/NVR/IPC to make them support higher
version of TLS to fix this issue. Now, almost all of our most promoted devices have new firmware
with the solution.
In that case,
1. For NVR, the firmware should be v3.4.6 or above. Not every series of NVR have that high
version, especially some old NVR.
In fact, only E, K, and I series have v3.4.6.
For old NETRA NVR like NI-ST, NI-RT, NI-XT, NI-SP, their latest version is v3.4.2, we also sorted
out a temp version for this issue, now v3.4.2 build160711 fix it.
2. For DVR, you will need to use 3.4.4 or above. That is for E and F series TVI DVR.
For SH series TVI DVR, the latest v3.3.3 fix it.
3. For IP camera, v5.4.0 or above is OK.
The new firmware mentioned above could be found on our portal website, please upgrade and
test.
By the way, some notices need to be careful of when testing:
1. it is a must to enable SSL/TLS in the email settings of devices.
2. the port should be manually changed to 587, as the device will change the port to 465 if you
do not change.
3. you must do the test on the local menu of DVR, through 4200 or WEB menu, it is not OK.
4. if turn off the less secure app, you need to input the app’s password.
