That's the easiest way to get through the joists, just sometimes its tough finding the hole.

Are you using the glow in the dark tip? I bought a little light that screwed on fish sticks, but only used it once or twice until it unscrewed and bounced around in the bed of my truck.

Oh and these drill bits work great for making the hole in soffit.

How is the camera fixed to the soffit? Screw into a joist or stringer?

I must have missed the part in the original post where he said that he was using Glow rods.... do glow sticks glow too

2 screws are into only the aluminum soffit and 1 into the facia board. This soffit was good quality thicker gauge. I also kept camera on top of a rib in soffit for extra rigidity. I used #6 soffit (metal) screws. Most older homes around here have plywood underneath soffit so Then i use 2-3 inch wood screws. I suppose if you placed camera underneath a truss and forward enough to facia board you could use 2-3 inch wood screws in at least 2 holes.

I'll be looking into installing about 15 cameras running cable thru my attic in Florida. Needless to say it's the 7th circle of hell up there in summer... Do you recommend these rods? I was looking at what Amazon has and I see lots of Chinese garbage.

I use them every day. The threaded ends do come loose after time from multiple installer abuse.
