I have a 1.5-2 year old Dahua HFW5231EP-Z12E camera.

Is there an upgraded model to this?

Found this article
LPR with a pair of IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E | IP Cam Talk

Im not sure the differences or naming structure for the cameras.
HFW5241E-Z12E - In the article for review
HFW5231EP-Z12E - My current camera

Any help much appreciated.

Many of us find the 5231-Z12E to produce a better image, especially at night. The 5241 produces a comet like tail on the head and tail lights. The plate is still readable, but the image isn't as crisp.

The 5241-Z12E has the ability to do a manual focus and AI capabilities, but AI is useless using it for LPR because the field of view is so tight.

The 5241 is simply an updated model.

I have both and prefer the 5231 for picture quality for LPR.

And unfortunately the 5442 series hasn't made a Z12E equivalent, so the older 5231 and 5241 models are the best for LPR given the zoom is double the 5442-Z4E model.
