Hi Peeps,

Complete noob here.

i was told recently that because my cameras have video compression H.265 that my NVR cannot communicate with them as it is H.264, is this true?

my setup is Hikvision NVR DS-7604NI-SE/P and the cameras are Hikvision DS-2CD3335-I

Thanks in advance for the help.

H.265 is a new compression codec, and most cameras still support H.264 as well. It should be possible to change the compression codec from the camera, unless this is a special model that only supports H.265 (highly unlikely).

If there is no way to change it to H.264, then it will not be able to communicate with your NVR, unless a firmware update in the future adds H.265 support.
