Will be using a (Windows 11) Dell XPS-8940 with an Intel i7-11700 4.9 Ghz 8c/16t, 32 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD and a 8 TB Gold WD SATA hard drive installed in the computer to run BI with a 24 port POE unmanaged network switch.

The XPS specifications state a HD limit at 2 TB. However, in other forums, someone stated that the reason it was 2 TB is that the XPS was not tested with a larger drive. Could be true or BS.

Will the 8 TB will work in the XPS? And if not what are the alternatives.

The 2TB limit may be referring to an SSD in the C:\ drive position> Maybe....
But yeah, any system in the 11th generation, should easily be aware of large GPT disks.

You would probably do better with a WD purple drive. They are specifically designed for NVR's...
Appreciate the heads up. Did order the Gold and canceled the order. Went for the WD Purple 7200 RPM, 8 TB. Should be here Wednesday with extra special shipping charges to Alaska!!

Thanks for the tip on file location. Planning to place all clips on the WD with program files (.exe), etc on the SSD.

It is amazing how long it takes to remove all the junk programs from the system. For the ones that don't like to go away, found that CCleaner Free (under tools) does a good job at removal. Windows Power Shell is another option.
