Wondering if it's possible to use the power going to one of the cameras and put a splitter and install a small LED light. Something small like say 5-7W (since port maxes out at 15W). Reason for asking is due to poor outside lighting and running another mains would be a lot of work and require redoing some stucco. I do wish I opted for 2347 with LED instead of 5442 in hindsight but too late now.

I started out doing exactly that and it works fine. Now I pull an 18/2 cable to camera locations and use discreet power supplies instead to keep the load off the PoE switch. Another alternative would be to add a small, visible light, LED floodlight, say in the 10 watt range.

The fancy new PoE standards (and vendor-proprietary formats) support into the 90W range on a CAT6 cable.
