Having problems with motion detection between Amcrest Cameras and Blue Iris

Hello all,
I just purchased a bunch of Amcrest Cameras. My varifocal and basic dome camera appear to be working solid, but the 180's are giving me a hell of a time recording.

What is the correlation between the camera regions/zones and recording settings vs Blue Iris? I would assume I can set either or depending on which I want to use and not have to set both?
It seems the 180's (IP8M-DLB2998EW-AI) only want to pick up if I set up a region and motion detection in the camera vs just in Blue Iris. When I can finally get motion recording working this way, the quality is poor in color and missing half the video in black and white.

Suggestions?

I do not have any Amcrest 180s but with my Annke 180's, I had to set BI motion detections min object size and min contrast quite low. I used the default Edge Vector and use 100% within the Object Detection screen.

Thank you. I can try this.
Did you need to turn motion detection on in the camera at all and set a zone? Or everything was %100 in BI?

On those cameras I only have detection through BI. ONVIF is not selected under Video-Configure either in this case where it would need to be selected to receive triggers from the cameras configuration.

If the alerts are coming from BI then they will be labeled Motion. If from the camera it will say ONVIF on each alert. I am only using 1 Amcrest T1177 EB AI at this time and use ONVIF instead of BI alerts. I use IVS rules from the camera. In order for that to work, motion detection and smart motion detection are NOT turned on under the cameras EVENTS tab. under Network- connection-ONVIF, Authentication is Disabled.(not sure why but it works) In BI, ONVIF is selected in the video config tab and in the trigger tab. In the past I have seen when changing setting within the camera you may need to refresh "Find/inspect within BI for BI to pick up updated configuration.

I really have no clue what I am doing wrong here?
I turned off motion detection and zones and AI in the cameras. I set everything up in BI itself and I am not getting triggers. I have the cameras set in BI with motion zones and to trigger when crossing zones, but to record all the time in sub stream and also record on triggers and I get absolutely nothing!

Post screenshots of the field of view and your settings in BI.
Here are some screenshots with zone crossing that I setup. Also attached is a screenshot of one of the camera's current UI

Those zones are WAY TOO SMALL.

They need to be way bigger.
I tried with the zones larger as shown attached and the constant recording is going, but the triggers are not triggering.

you are trying to do too much with one field of view.

The fringes is where it will struggle.

Do you have object travels checked? If so turn off.

What is your min object size, contrast, and make time? Those all impact it as well.

For the algorithm are you on Edge Vector or Simple? Change to simple.

Post screenshots of the BI settings for triggers and alerts.

So my Son came home and his car's headlights in the street egressing the zone on the front camera triggered motion funny enough.
All the other settings are at default, so yes the Object Travels is selected currently.

You have done about everything to not trigger LOL.

Switch to simple.

Turn off object travels X pixels.

Turn off reset detector

Make min size smaller

Make min contrast smallest amount

Play with make time and size until you get triggers reliably.

My man!!!

My man! Thanks for the suggestions, I am starting to get alerts now!
So to my defense, if I was doing everything to not get triggers, why is BI setup like this out of the box? You would think it would be set to do something in default settings, not to not have to setup everything from scratch to even get a working camera that does not just record when the wind blows.

Awesome!

I suspect they probably got complaints of it being too sensitive, so they defaulted at somewhere in between.

But usually the object travels box is the one preventing a lot of the triggers.

Thanks much man! This gives me a starting point for sure. I’m sure I will be back with questions, but this gives me working cameras to tweak now.
