Hi All, in the process of upgrading my analog 600TVL bullet cameras and 7208 Hikvision DVR with the latest 3.0 Tribrid series (LTS) DVR and respective 3MP cameras. Wanted to see what the community thought of the new 3MP 2.8-12mm motorized varifocal for a front door application (model CMHR96T3DW-Z) vs the 3.6mm fixed lens equivalent - CMHR92T2W. I've read in some older threads that the lenses on the motorized varifocal were subpar to their fixed lens equivalent (would assume similar to a zoom lens on a DSLR vs a prime/fixed lens). However, the spec sheet shows the lens on both to be the same 1/3 CMOS sensor. Are there any other considerations I should take into account?

Also, what is the consensus on dome vs bullet for applications on the first level of a home? CMHD35T3DW-Z is the dome model of the new 3 MP series.

Thanks in advance!

Notes:
-Set on HD-TVI to use existing RG59 cable that is already run around house
