Good camera. The 1/1.8 @ 8 mp is great if you have some ambiant light. I also installed the 8mp with the 1/1.2 sensor. If you have enough lighting I prefer the 1/1.8 sensor cam even at 8mp. Without much light th 4mp 5443 is probably better. The 8mp 1/1.8 is very good with ambiant lighting.

It's apparent you like the 8MP with 1/1.8" sensor.....that's great!

Ya gonna show us a few night & day snapshots soon? :cool:

Exact opposite of my experience
* I meant to say that the 4MP version I believe to be better with the same 1/1.8 sensor, and the 4K-T with the 1/1.2 sensor. Both I think are superior to the 5842 though the 4K-T has the small DOF issue

I still am gonna try to get some night clips.

I have decided the 4 mp 5442's are the best. I have 8mp with 1 1/2 on the front of my house and with the outside lighting, and the adjustable camera lights it's been hard not to have too much lighting although I don't mess with it enough via some good info in the wiki and members that have spent a gret deal of time adjusting camera settings.

---and most do it yourself camera homeowners use the default settings.

the 5442 are the best....i also would like extra wide shots....so why go with 3.6 or 6mm cams? Hope you have the money to replace a camera or two for the field of view you need.

I've been trying for a while and it can be diffucult to get things just right.

.................and to put a camera view on here i have to (because im not real smart) I have to download it on my phone or sim, then i can post somrthing worth watching.......so my remark ....1/1.8 @ 8 mp is great if you have some ambiant light
.... is good, as my daughter liked it....but as i said earlier it's got lots of ambiet light.
 
OK.........but if you are a homeowner that's installing cameras, the 5442s are better than most. Read the wiki and firel of view.

Your gonna need more cameras than 4 - 6 if you live where I do.

If you are lucky to be at the top of a cul-de-sak get some big ass cameras so people can see the're being recorded......JMHO
