I just bought a new Dahua starlight from Andy (3 days to ship to Seattle, AWSOME) and I am just trying to view the camera. I have the camera directly connected to an apple airport extreme router. I installed the config tool and it found and identified the camera. When I click on operate in the config tool, the safari window that opens times out and says no connection. I don't know if I have to open a port or some other router setting I need to do, but I am not the smartest when it comes to these things. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Open Safari and try going to http://192.168.1.108

That’s the default IP for Dahua products. You should not have to open a port to connect to the camera from another device that’s on the same network as the camera.

How are you powering the camera? POE injector or power adapter?

That was the first thing I tried, I entered in the same IP address above into safari, which is also what the config tool says it is, and it just hung there for a minute and then says failed to open page and says "Safari can't open the page "192.168.1.108" because the server where this page is located isn't responding. I am using a power adapter that Andy gave me.

your network needs to be on the same subnet as the camera for you to be able to hit the webpage...what it your routers ip address? if it doesnt begin with 192.168.1.x
then thats your problem..many threads discussing this...
