Hi All, newbie to the world of IP Cameras and desperately need some assistance.

Here is my setup (please dont judge too harshly).
NVR - Dahua NVR5216-EI
Cameras - various brands (hikvision, annke, Dahua & some no-brand onvif cams etc).

I have all Cameras connected to POE Switches (2 x TP Link LS109P), except for 1 Dahua C5A wireless cam.

Everything was working fine, I had to unplug one camera to move it. When I plugged it back in, the error message said "Login Return time is up". I have tried everything (I can think of) to fix, but it seems I am destined to fail, because It now has happened to 2 more Cameras.

I have reset the Cameras back to factory, unplugged and replugged countless times.
Changed ip addresses, searched.. nothing. Manually add.. red dot of death.
It just wont find them or add them.

Happy to provide as much info as you need to assist with diagnosis.

All Cameras are on the same subnet and have assigned IPs. The wireless camera uses port 37777, all other cams use port 80. The wireless cam is dahua and connects in the DMSS app but will not allow me to add back onto NVR (it was previously)

All Cameras work fine when I log into them through a web browser. Passwords are all correct.

Im grateful for any assistance you can provide, im sure my blood pressure would really appreciate it also.

All of the passwords should ideally be the same as the NVR, need to see a pic of your camera registration page

Those all show Green...?

This shows 2 cams in red.
  • 1st one (port 37777) is the dahua wifi cam.
  • 2nd one is an onvif compatible cam.
  • Both were connected previously and working fine.
  • Both are accessible through their portals.
  • Passwords correct.

Yes, I have restarted the NVR a few times.
Also reset back to factory and started again.

Yes, all passwords are the same (except for the dahua wifi cam which is the default)

The only thing I have not tried is unplugging the working cameras from the POE Switch (for fear of loosing everything).

I have deleted the cameras with issues, unplugged, restarted the NVR, re-plugged, searched and no results.

Im starting to think I may have a faulty nvr. Or possibly some other network problem.
have you re-started the NVR to re-connect all the cams? ALL cams have the same password?

I used to have similar problems when I bought cameras from different brands. I solved these issues by setting the protocol, password and IP address, and then unplugging and plugging them back in, which took quite a while. That's why I now only use the same brand for a complete security system.

I;m betting a good bottle of bourbon its NOT an NVR issue but a networking issue

Try unplugging both non-working cameras.
Then delete their entries from the camera reg screen
Then plug in the ONVIF cam (*you may need to make sure the cam itself is set to ONVIF)
Wait-dont do anything
If it doesnt appear in the top panel, do "Search Device"
Once it appears, wait until its green
Then do manual add to move it to bottom pane
Now go to the edit pencil, make sure it is ONVIF, and make sure the password is the password ON THE CAMERA (this box tells the NVR what creds to use to communicate with the camera, it doesnt change anything)
Save and wait for it to turn green

I think I agree with you. Must be a network issue.

Tried those steps, nothing shows up.

I even went and bought another cam today, nothing shows up.

I don't even know where to begin to look for network issues. Should I consider moving the NVR to another switch (in case this one is faulty)?

Search Device and try searching by "Not initialized" and also try " Not Auto connected"
the Cameras 192.168.1.56, and 192.168.1.126 are probably waiting for you to enter the Admin password of the NVR in the Pencil icon. when I do this, if it doesn't change to green after a half a minute, I log out of the NVR and Log back in, and lots of times that will change my status from red to green.
if the IP is showing up, then the camera is on the network...... waiting.... for the user to do something to green light it.
if you have computer on the network in the same IP address range, you can try typing 192.168.1.56 into a Browser and see if you can login with whatever password you think it is.

Ok, I feel like an absolute idiot.
I went searching on the POE switch for a reset button and noticed this little switch was ON.
Turned it off and BAM! There are all my cameras.

Now I know what it does

Thanks for all your help everyone!
Sorry

Yep, the more bells and whistles there are, the more likelhood something will break or be mis-configured.
Been there, got the tee shirt.
This is why there are still Model T Fords still running over a hundred years later...they're simple and have minimal moving parts.
