Help me understand Dahua NVR bandwidth vs decoding specification?

Can someone explain to me the difference between the Dahua's "Incoming Bandwidth" versus the decoding capability of their NVR?

For example, for the NVR5216-8P-4KS2, if the incoming bandwidth is listed as 320Mbps but the decoding capability is: 4-ch@8MP(30fps) , then does this mean that you can only connect and continuously record up to FOUR 8MP cameras @ 30fps to the NVR? If you connect 5 or more, then you'll have issues?

My understanding is that camera is transmitting data bit streams regardless of resolution, so if a 8MP camera is transmitting 4,096Kbit versus a 2MP also at 4,096Kbit, then they are transmitting equal network bandwidth.

So then, does the decoding capability just means HOW many 8MP cameras you can Live View the camera or PlayBack the cameras from the NVR at it's fullest resolution? Is that what it means?

Thanks
