I am having a few issues setting up my sannce N98PBK NVR and I am hoping that someone may have had the same issue..

I have connected it in exactly the same way as my old NVR, however it picks up some of the cameras but they keep dropping out and then some will come back !!!Most of my cameras are connected through a POE switch which connects with my old NVR perfectly.

When I start the new NVR up it gets to the network section on the wizard and when you press next it says 'the master port and virtual LAN IP range cannot be the same'. I am presuming that this has something to do with it but I do not understand what this means and how to rectify it.

Do you know the LAN IP and its setting (DHCP or static) of the old NVR?

If so ditch the wizard and using the NVR's mouse and attached monitor go to network settings and set the new NVR to the same settings.

It sounds like you have an IP conflict.

The NVR has an IP address, the ports on the NVR have IP addressess also. These need to be in two completely different ranges just like it says.

Find the NVR IP address under "networking" or similar, then find the Virtual Host or Virtual LAN IP range on the NVR. These are two separate things.

Basically the address of the NVR itself cant be in the same range as the addresses the Virtual Host is giving out to the ports. Change the Virtual Host IP range

Somewhere on the NVR in the Networking area most likely. Dont know what that brand calls it.

On Dahua NVRs it would typically be 10.1.1.1

This is the range of IPs the NVR hands out to the camera ports

Thats your main NVR networking. Whats the IP address? Should be similar but off on the last number from your other NVR

Is this a wireless system? I cant find that model?

No, Primary and Secondary DNS are your DNS settings. Those don't matter right now.

What is the IP address and is it the same as your other NVR?

Ok so your two NVRs are different IPs, good.

So it sounds like problem is with the Virtual Host. Without seeing it and physically troubleshooting it I can't say what that is.
Typically I would start but unpluggung the cameras, plugging in one at a time, and doing a manual reset while connected (usually a reset button inside a compartment where an SD card would go, hold down for 30 seconds and wait)

If the camera has POE switch integral to the unit, they might be saying that switch IP range, and your Wan Port cannot both be the192.168.x.xxx address range. usually some NVR's use 10.10.1.xxx or something for integral switch on a POE NVR. But not all.
