Help with vlan, vpn or whatever

^^^^
This unless youve manually messed with the IPs, in which case you may need to reset them.

I got this half working on my asus router but everytime I'd try and connect to DMSS it would timeout or say my internet connection was unusual and wouldn't work. I tried both wireguard and openvpn. The asus router even shows a green checkmark to show its connected. If you get this working on yours please list the steps that you took.

Have you ran a speed test? Maybe your connection is too slow.

The NVR
I see. Do you get notifications when using the VPN?

I only use it when direct accessing the NVR or cameras for setting change or some other issue. 99% of the time I use P2P. But yes, same as being connected to your LAN at home normally.
I've been traveling this week and haven't used the VPN (Wireguard) but once for maybe 10m minutes

Note that WireGuard is running on the firewall at home 24/7 but I only use it (the client) on my phone/laptop when I need direct access to the NVR/Camera GUI as you can't access cameras directly (their GUI) remotely using P2P. This is by design. The PoE ports on the NVR act like a VLAN and wont allow an outside connection. The VPN establishes an "inside" connection so it allows me to access them as if sitting at my desk at home.
