DS-2CD2155 w/2.8mm lens has extremely poor night time images
I have just upgraded a few cameras and this was one of the new versions.
Seems like Hikvison have done away with the second row of IR LEDS and the illumination at night is next to useless. TheDS-2CD2155 w/4.0mm has the second row and is due to be test shortly.
The2.8mm lens version is fine for daytime but a waste of money at night. The IR illumination barely reaches 5m and even this sees extremely poor. The strange or not so strange thing s that the camera is picking up hot spots from other IR cameras in the proximity but next to nothing I its own immediate field. (Yes the same poor illumination when the other cameras are off!)
I will try those cheap auxiliary 48 LED eBay infrared illuminators to top up the IR lighting, and if that fails the camera is destined for the bin and an expensive lesson has been learnt.
