Hickvision smart tracking versus auto tracking

First post. Thanks! A bit thick headed.
For PTZ. Need help understanding smart tracking versus auto tracking.

It appears "auto" tracking can monitor a pre-defined region, at rest, or a scanned region while on patrol, and if motion is detected, the camera will zoom into the object causing motion, and follow this object, zooming in or out as needed, until the object is out of range or reach of the camera. And it seems auto tracking is performed without a person intervening.

But "smart" tracking is different. The camera is parked on a >>predefined region<<, and doesn't allow patrol. Or allows patrol if a person is manually panning, tilting or zooming, or if a person is watching a patrolling camera. This >region< is defined with a mouse and allows entering or exiting triggers, line crossing, or other smart VCA trigger features, but the camera >>does not automatically<< zoom into the moving object and the camera does not follow the moving object, by itself, automatically, without a person watching. The camera can have patrol, and I think while patrolling, the predefined region can move with the patrol, and if the predefined region is triggered by enter, exit, line, etc., an alarm is generated. But it seems smart tracking needs a person to click the mouse on the moving object to have this camera track the moving object, and it will then zoom in or out as needed, until the moving object leaves the camera range or reach. If person does not click on moving object, camera just shows alarm condition, but does >not< automatically auto track.

So is the difference being one of tracking automatically without human intervention >>versus<< having smart regions with enter, exit, line, etc. alarming, but needing human intervention (mouse click) to begin the tracking?

What am I not getting here? Or does smart tacking do just like auto tracking, but needing more triggers, linkages, events, "if then else" settings, etc.?

Complicating this is features of camera when connected to NVR which has its own VCA abilities, needing to therefore "work together" seamlessly.

One last question: are some of these tracking features like panning or zooming to track moving objects available digitally on non-ptz cameras or through NVRs?

This is a great place with lots of smart people. Thanks so much in advance for your help.

Did you ever confirm the difference between smart tracking and auto tracking?
