Hiding BlueIris/NVR device in closet and connecting to it with Powerline adapter? How much data?

As far as trying to use motion detector wiring to power a camera, that should be a 4 conductor cable. If you doubled up the wires (2 +, 2 -) the voltage drop would probably be manageable.
He can hope...those indoor cams are 5 VDC, so it cannot afford to drop much.

I'd say don't get overly invested in a system that will only be temporary.

+1 to that. Streaming 8 each 3MP cams over Wi-Fi will very likely require tweaks to frame rate and bit rate to get acceptable results.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, @Jimbob !

I'd be adding a separate WiFi router to handle just the cameras, running on a different channel so that your personal devices can run off the primary router without any issues. Also serves to isolate the cameras off the main network, tho complicates remote access to the NVR for less experienced folk, perhaps.

I was figuring on 12V when I said it would likely be a problem. Good luck with 5.
They can however set cameras on shelves and counters and plug them into electrical outlets.

I agree wifi is likely to choke.
