hik-ddns issue from uk

hiky

Getting the hang of it
Does the Hik-DDNS work from the Uk ??

Created an account at hik-online.com tried to add an nvr but all i get is this device does not exist ??

in the hik online web site - adding a device - i have filled in the serial number, device domain name and port 0, i have also tried port 8000 with same result

if i try using the NVR software to register for a hi DDNS username, passwork, confirm and `ddns are not enabled`, remain greyed out ?? if i hit save i get a pop up box saying communication to server failed ??? what ?? why ??

How do you get this to work, surely its not that hard !!

i assume Hikvision want the serial number as the full number as found in every serial number section on all bits of software or do they want the serial number from the box which is shorter

domain name i assume is what the NVR has been called or do they want the external ip address of the NVR ??

short of that this simple task seems to be annoyingly non functional

*ANSWER*
Un tick the box with DHCP

That at least has let me register the device on the web site and in the DVR
username, password and confirm are still greyed out in the NVR software, maybe this will propagate in time

moving on from the above anyone doing this will most likely need to change there phone settings to match the DDNS settings
i am using a windows phone but to be honest all phone software is about the same with regard to settings so you need to adjust
Register Mode - HiDDNS
Server address - eudev.hik-online.com ( i am in the Uk ) your setting can be found in your nvr configuration Network>Basic settings>DDNS server address
Device Name - what you called your device under server address
Password - what you use to access your nvr
Camera No will self propagate once a connection is established

May as well throw in some notes about accessing the NVR from a location outside of the NVR`s local lan ( away from home ) from a Pc
IF your NVR`s external IP address gets changed by your ISP every now and again and you have to create a Hik-online DDNS account as mentioned above your computer will obviously loose its connection to your nvr, to rectify this sign in to your Hik-Online.com account and select the tab . Device status > under the heading "Device Link URL" there is a hyperlink that will open in your browser your new DDNS web page displaying your NVR`s login page

Hope some of this helps a few peeps who are stabbing around trying to get this to work

Hik's ddns service works fine in the UK

But people seem to mess up with the setup,
Before you start setup your port forwarding this is the most important part.
Then you need to select dhcp ( this allows for no errors in setting up and can be changed afterwards ).
Setup the location
Setup the name you want to use and apply it.

Then finish off by going to hik-online and adding and adding your NVR.
It's that simple.
