Hi All, I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions anyone can give me in trying to solve a problem I have with HIK IP PoE cameras.
Basically I'm trying to either remove/reset two IP address'es which were automatically assigned by the NVR when I connected the cameras initially.
The problem arose when I purchased and installed two additional cameras to add to the two I already had installed. I rearranged the cabling and
installed a Netgear Switch (GS305P), reconnected all the cameras but only two are showing a live view. Note that three of the cameras are connected
through the Switch and one directly to the HIK NVR (which I didn't rearrange and is working). Only one of the cameras connected through the Switch is working-
the new one. I can see that all cameras are receiving power and the status lights on the Switch look normal.
I have tried resetting the IP address manually with password as opposed to Plug and Play but I get the error message "The Network is unreachable" which ever
IP address I use.
The "Delete" function does not work as it says "camera does not exist", in any event it's only possible to reassign and not delete, dont know how that works as changing an IP address has no effect. Also tried reset to Factory Defaults but got the same result. When I look up the SADP Tool all I see is one camera and the NVR.

Equipment list: (HiLook and Netgear Switch are brand new other items are only a few months old)
HiWatch Camera IP 2 MP Turret (Code: 5D_IPC-T620-z_HW 9351) x 2
HiLook Camera IP IPC -B640H-Z 4MP EXIR (3768)
HiLook Camera IP IPC-T240H 4MP Turret (3691)
HiWatch 4 Channel NVR 4MP with 4 x PoE ( Code: 5D-NVR-104-A/P_HW-9356)
Netgear 5 port Gigabit Ethernet PoE Network Switch (GS305P)

Any help much appreciated
Thanks

When I look up the SADP Tool all I see is one camera and the NVR.
To confirm :
One camera on an NVR PoE port.
Two cameras on a PoE switch - not connected to an NVR PoE port.
The PoE switch connected to the LAN - not an NVR PoE port.

I have tried resetting the IP address manually with password as opposed to Plug and Play but I get the error message "The Network is unreachable" which ever
IP address I use.
You should be able to do that by using SADP, which does not require you to change the IP address of the PC to be in the range used by the cameras.
What does SADP show when the PC is connected to an unused NVR PoE port?

Hi there,THANKS SO MUCH for the reply. Apologies if I confused you. Cameras connected as follows:

1 connected direct to the HIK NVR PoE port and is working

3 connected to the Netgear Switch (GS305P) only 1 working (all receiving power)

Netgear switch connected to the Router

The NVR when connected to the PC shows the camera's that are working/active and the NVR -this is
listed twice for some reason with two different IP's. Two other cameras dont show up

Also I've tried several times to get the HIKVision "app" working but keeps saying to download and install
a plug in which never works. I use the IP address in the browser for that and it does display a lot of info
but no live views.

Thanks again
JG

take a screenshot of sadp and upload it here. Sadp Should show at least 1 nvr and 2 cams if setup correctly. Provided its all on same network.

once the cams are correctly setup on sadp then you should set them up on the nvr.

your 2 cams should be reachable on from your pc (if all on the same network range).

"HIKVision app" unsure What you mean

Hi there thanks again, the "HIKVision" app correct name is Web Administration Tool- I finally got it working
in Chrome using I.E Tab extension, I'm able to view cameras live and change IP address'es, which are also
changed on the NVR but makes no difference. See screen shot's
Much appreciated

NVR says cam 2\3 are working ok.?
1 and 4 either password is wrong or i.p. is wrong .you can check IP address by logging directly into cam from IE.

Also upgrade to latest firmware on the cams if you can.

Hi, Thanks for the reply, yes 2 and 3 working fine, I did recheck passwords. I will try
to update firmware but I think the camera's have to be live/active mode to do so- I could
be totally wrong.

Hi there, I had a look at the cam web GUI -the "Enable Virtual Host" is not present as an option
which I think is required, the only option available is Enable Flow Control- dont know hat that is.
By the way no response from HIK Support, resent email which was returned "mailbox full".
Thanks for the reply.
Cheers

no need for virtual host for cams on local network range . On home network range. eg
should get you to the B640

You are missing the IPC-T620's on sadp . Do a full reset on the t620's. then check sadp. They need to be seen in sadp. after setup on sadp. check same method as above for the b640 but change the network address.

Hi there ,hello again. I've downloaded the User Manuals for both camera's and I cannot find anything about hard resetting.
Neither of these camera's have physical reset buttons/pins which is a pain. Just wondering if I take the cameras down and plug
them directly into the PC using the IP numbers which were originally automatically assigned will they show up on the SADP allowing
me to modify the IP's ?
Thanks

Hi Alastair, just to follow on with my IP camera connection problem, earlier today I connected the camera via a switch and
PC but I still cant access it. I'm not exactly sure which IP address'es were assigned to the camera's initially as I changed them in
effort to get them online. The camera directly connected to the switch and working is 192.168.254.3 so I assumed the other
two cameras were assigned similar IP's in the same range- .1 .2 .4 .5 etc. but I had no luck. I'm using the IE extension on Chrome
and did check that it was working by connecting to the camera with an IP of 192.168.1.10 using HiLook. I tried changing the PC IP address
but that didn't seem to work either.
My IPv 4 Address is 192.168.1.38 and the Default Gateway is 192.168.1.254, - do I have to change all the settings when manually assigning the IP address:
IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Preferred DNS Server and Alternative DNS Server.
What am I doing wrong !!
Thanks in advance
JG

Hi Alastair, just an update, at last the camera connected to the PC appeared in the SADP- I changed the IP address reinput
the password and the status went to "Active" but when I disconnected from the PC and reconnected it to "normal" set up it disappeared from the SADP again,it has power. I cant get it to appear through the browser using the IP address-it's not a problem with a plug in as I'm able to look at the other OK.
Any thoughts
Thanks
JG

Hi Alastair, still no luck getting the cameras up and running. I'm wondering if I should reset the NVR,(HiWatch 4 Channel NVR 4MP)
the three options I have are:
"Restore Defaults- Simply restore the settings", "Factory Defaults- Restore all parameters to default settings" and "Restore To Inactive-
Restore the device to inactive status"- I'm not sure what the latter option does. Do you know if "restoring all parameters" includes
deleting/resetting IP address'es ?
Any comments much appreciated
Thanks

So from what I am understanding the cameras were first set up by plugging into the NVR's on board POE and then relocated to the Netgear switch. If this is the case then you will need to check your IP addresses for those cameras on the Netgear switch. The NVR's built in POE are actually on a separate network than your home network (router). This is to give your cameras an extra layer of security. I would use SADP to DHCP those cameras. Make sure you are running the latest version of SADP and running SADP as administrator. If DHCP the cameras changes the IP address, look on your NVR and make sure the IP address are matching. Most likely those cameras are set to "Manual" instead of "Plug and Play" and double check the IP address, Hikvision Protocol, user name and password.

Hi "lewic", firstly, thank you so- so much for taking the time to reply to my post. Really much appreciated. Your post has made it much easier for
me to understand the "workings" of the NVR which I was really puzzled with. A couple of days ago before the weather took a turn for the worst
I connected one camera directly to my PC and connected another Ethernet cable to the NVR/Router- in addition to the one already connected
The result was that I was able to view the camera live and see it listed as 192.168.254.5 on the SADP for the first time since I installed the Netgear switch.

If you look at the images below you will see where I'm at now after disconnecting the "extra" cabling. There are four IP address'es listed with 192.168.254.X
with only one working-that camera was connected directly to the NVR initially and not changed, all are set to Plug and Play except the camera with an
IP address 192.168.1.10 which was never connected to the NVR directly and was showing in the Live View until I connected the camera (as above) to
the PC. As you can see it's in an "Active" state both on the NVR and SADP, it was "bumped out" of the live view when I connected the camera as above
and I cant add it back as "no more IP camera allowed".

The only device that shows up in the Router is the NVR.

Updated SADP to latest version

Thanks again

JG,
That look right. Exactly what I said before. Your home network is 192.168.1.X. Your NVR's internal POE ports are on a 192.168.254.X.
If those three cameras were first connected to the NVR POE's then they automatically activated and were assigned an IP address by the NVR. That is why those cameras are showing the 192.168.254.X. In your case it is 3,4,6,7. If you disconnect those cameras from the NVR's built in POE and connected it to your Netgear then you are no longer on the same network. I am guessing your setup is like this.....

modem/router - netgear switch - NVR

If this is the case then the netgear is on the 192.168.1.X network. In order for your switch to get on the 192.168.254.X network, you will need to disconnect it from the modem/router and plug it into one of the NVR's POE ports. If you want your cameras to connect in it's current setup.... You will need to use SADP and reassign the IP addresses to those cameras that are on that switch. You will either have it automatically get an IP address. This is done by....

SADP software - Select your camera from the list.
Right hand side of the software select enable DHCP
Put in the password for the camera at the bottom and select modify. (Since this camera was activated by NVR then the password of camera should be the same as the NVR)
Do that for each of the camera and you will see them change to a 192.168.1.X address. Then uncheck the enable DHCP and enter password and click modify to turn off the DHCP. That will ensure the IP address doesn't change on you later.
Then go to the NVR on the camera screen. Select a channel and click on the edit button (the pencil icon)
Change it from plug and play to manual.
Manually put in the camera's IP address that you see under SADP which is the newly updated 192.168.1.X number.
Double check the user name and password and click apply.
That's it.
Each camera will have a different number in the "X" of the 192.168.1.X

On your current setup on the NVR it is looking for the camera on the "254" network but you have your cameras connected to the switch which is on the
"1" network.
Hope this helps!
