Hi All

Ive set up my Hik Vision NVR and 2 Hik vision dome Cams by poe
The problem im having is something to do with a ip adresses as it works when an extra cable is plugged in from a spare por port to my router, as soon as i unplug this cable im getting a network abnormal message when looking at my camera configuration
My nvr ip is 192.168.1.201
my cameras are 192.168.254.2 192.168.254.3 i changed these ips to what the SADP picked up when i plugged into a spare poe port.
192.168.1.12
192.168.1.171

Any idea folks on what im doing wrong?
Is leaving a ethernet cable from the router to a spare port on the NVR ok or do i need to fix what ever is wrong ?
When using the hik connect app my cameras dont seem to be connected to the nvr for recording

It sounds like you've set NVR PoE-port-connected camera IP addresses to LAN addresses as opposed to the default 192.168.254.x addresses as used by the NVR PoE ports. That will give a 'network abnormal' error.

There are a couple of things you could do:

Use SADP when the PC is plugged in to an unused PoE port to set the cameras IP addresses back to match those defined in the NVR web GUI Camera Management page for the specific ports the cameras are plugged in to.

Reset the cameras back to defaults so they are 'Inactive' and will be picked up and activated by the NVR.
To do that - youd probably have to set the PC IP address to a static value in the LAN range 192.168.1.x and access the cameras web GUI at 192.168.1.12 and 171 when the PC is connected to an unused NVR PoE port.

Not really OK, or necessary.
The NVR has a facility called 'Virtual Host' that can be used for direct access to the cameras web GUI via the NVR for fine tuning the camera configuration.

Thanks for the reply, i'll give it a go, im a newbie when it comes to this kind of thing but can usally find may way around with a little help :-)

Ok, this is where im up to.
NVR is online in platform access IP 192.168.1.201
Cam I is online according to NVR but shows offline in platform access in camera settings
Cam 2 is online according to NVR but shows offline in platform access in camera settings

Ip of cameras 192.168.254.2 192.168.254.3 Both sets of ip addresses are the same in the NVR and cameras

The issue now is my cameras are offline and i cant connect them up to the Hik app as there offline.

How is it there are offline?

Do i need to alter the gateway or does the gateway remain at 192.168.1.1 for the NVR and the cameras ?

Been faffing all day and struggling now :-(

What you've described sounds normal.
The cameras are now working ok in the NVR.
The NVR is accessible in HikConnect.
The cameras are not. That's because they are not on the LAN, they are connected behind the NVR in a different address space. That's how it works.
