Hi, I purchased a DS-7604NI-E1/4P NVR a few years ago without a hard drive and it didn't come with the SATA cables to connect the HDD, so I used ones from either my computer or my free-to-air satellite box (can't remember). When I switched it on, I could smell my HDD frying. Here are photos of the 4-pin-to-SATA cable I used. There appear to be only 3 cables attached to the 4 pins. Do I use the incorrect cable? What type of cable should I purchase to power the HDD?

The 2 cables in the images are different - so it's hard to comment with any useful info as it's not clear what's been wired up to what.

The second image looks like one end of the correct cable if the locating indent is at the top left of the image.
If so - using the pin location of the colours on the second cable, the colours on the first cable from top to bottom should be :
Red, Black, Black, Yellow

Red should be +5v, yellow should be +12v, both blacks are 0v.
If red and yellow are swapped - this will damage the HDD.
